About Jan Oxendale

Ever since I was a child, I loved to draw. During my childhood years, I went on many camping trips with my family in my home state of Minnesota. It was during those trips that my love for nature was developed. Thus, my favorite subjects for my paintings are landscape and wildlife. As a young adult I studied for 2 years under a professional wildlife artist. I took some art classes as well. However, when it came time for a career I sidetracked the art field because like many budding artists, I was told it would be too competitive. However, the urge to express myself with painting has crept to the surface throughout my lifetime and I have created many paintings.

Painting relaxes me and often my subject is of places that offer a sense of serenity. My paintings are a compilation of different places and mood that I have experienced.

Through the years, I have won awards at the Anoka County Fair and various shows. I've participated in several juried art shows. In addition, I have painted on commission.
